Careers Video Library

During the last year, many of our young people haven’t had as much access to information about careers and jobs or be able to meet employers in careers fairs or presentations. Whilst the situation is improving, we know that our schools and colleges are looking at different ways to provide careers information to their students.

We hope that by creating a library of short videos of people from all types of work and with different entry qualifications we are offering something which is exciting and informative.

You will find links to each video and accompanying work sheets in the related content on this page.

With each video, we have created accompanying work sheets that provide additional information and activities.

Each video includes the same questions which we know are the ones young people to ask:

  • Why did you choose your current job/career?
  • What does an average day look like in your job?
  • What are the working conditions/environment like? (Shifts/indoor/outdoor/dusty/hot/cold, etc)
  • How did you get to your current job? What qualifications, other jobs and experience have you done?
  • What skills do you need for your job?
  • What are the best bits about your job?
  • Are there things which you don’t enjoy?
  • What are the long-term future or hopes you have for your job?
  • What would you say to someone interested in joining your career or job?
  • Is there anything else you would like to say about your job?

Please use the library and signpost parents, colleagues and young people to view the videos and information. Every video has been created by someone who wants to share their job and life experience and inspire. Thank you to everyone who has contributed!

A downloadable document with a list of all careers videos identifying subject links, and other related information can be found on the right side of this page as an attachment (scroll down below the video list).  This document can be shared with all of your subject staff to support work related to Gatsby Benchmark Four - Linking Career to Curriculum.
If you, or someone you know would be happy to get involved by creating a video and sharing their story, please email one of the project team. We look forward to hearing from you.
