West Ham Roundabout

Project description

The scheme will improve capacity on the key access route (South-Western growth corridor - A30 Winchester Road roundabout and A340/A3010 Thornycroft Road roundabout) into and out of the proposed Local Plan major development site at Manydown. The scheme provides a two-lane entry to the roundabout on Worting Road (South) to reduce queues on the lead up to the roundabout, and some road markings at Lidl’s entry/exit to resolve cars leaving Lidl’s car park, via the entrance onto West Ham Close.

Project output

The scheme is near the A30 corridor improvements, and should help to deliver economic growth, new jobs and housing generated by the major improvements on Basingstoke South West growth corridor which includes Winchester Road Roundabout and Thornycroft Roundabout capacity improvements. West Ham Roundabout has a key role along other major highway improvements of the south-western growth corridor in contribution to the upgrading of Basingstoke’s existing road network reducing congestion and improved journey time reliability, which will improve accessibility through the town and accommodate for the projected significant increase in population and business growth that is envisaged in the west of Basingstoke. It will also contribute to reducing the cost of congestion to existing and prospective businesses and thus provide opportunities to increase productivity.
