Guildford Riverside Route

Project description

This scheme delivered a 1.24 kilometre high-quality, traffic-free cycling and walking route along the River Wey & Godalming Navigations towpath in Guildford around Parsonage Watermeadows, linking the A25 Woodbridge Road to the A320 Woking Road.

Project output

The scheme increased number of cyclists and walkers using the River Wey & Godalming Navigations towpath in Guildford. Taken together with the existing improved towpath, the Project provided a continuous high-quality, traffic-free cycling and walking route between key trip generators and attractors, namely Guildford town centre, business, industrial and retail parks and estates, and the designated ‘priority place’ of Stoke ward.

The Project also improved the cycling and walking connection from the Stoke ward to the Stag Hill campus of the University of Surrey. In addition, the Project improved access to Parsonage Watermeadows, part of the Riverside Park Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG).
