Deputy Leader of Surrey County Council and Cabinet Member for Economic Growth

Colin’s background is within the motor trade which he entered in to after leaving school; remaining in the industry until 2015. He started his journey as an apprentice mechanic which he completed after 4 years. He continued within the trade moving up through to senior management, eventually starting his own business in 2006.

Colin has been a Surrey County Councillor since 2013 and a Woking Borough Councillor since 2014. His focus on the County to date has been communities and resident engagement. He chaired the Resident Experience Board from 2015-2017. He has also been the local lead on Youth Services, engaging with young people through education and youth service commissioners as he feels passionately in the need to invest in young people for the strength of tomorrow’s communities.

Colin is portfolio holder at Woking Borough Council for housing and after re-election in 2017, joined Surrey’s Cabinet team as Cabinet Member for Highways. In December 2018 he became Deputy Leader for Surrey County Council and is now the Cabinet Member for Economic Growth.
