Enterprise M3, the Local Enterprise Partnership for the wider M3 corridor from the New Forest in the South West to Staines in the North East, welcomes the increase in funding and responsibility for Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) confirmed in today’s Autumn Statement.
Included in the Chancellor’s Statement were a number of announcements regarding LEPs that confirm the importance that the Government places on private sector led economic growth of the UK economy. LEPs have been given a more central role in shaping local plans for increasing wealth in their areas as well as increased funding to allow them to do this.
Responding to today’s Autumn Statement, Geoff French, Chair of the Enterprise M3 Board, said: “Today’s announcements regarding LEPs are very good news for Enterprise M3 and all other LEPs in England. We have an invaluable role to play in helping our local economy to grow and prosper and this Statement confirms that we now have the funding to help us do this.
“Enterprise M3 has already started work on its new strategic plan for local growth and we will be going out to businesses in the local area in the new year to ask them their views on what we need to do to create more jobs and prosperity in the wider M3 corridor.”
