As part of our drive to develop a low carbon high growth economy, Enterprise M3 LEP is supporting employers to encourage young people to consider green career opportunities, through the Innovation South Virtual Campus (ISVC).

Never before have green careers been so popular as people and businesses become more aware of the urgent need to protect the environment. This has led to the growth of green jobs, which focus on preserving the planet and its resources. These can include working in renewable energy, sustainability, conservation, green technologies.

With support from EM3 and the Department of Education, and by working with further education and sixth form colleges from across Hampshire and Surrey, £2.6 million funding has been provided to invest in the free to access online courses through the virtual campus.

On offer is a wide range of skills-focused, bite-sized range of programmes, designed to upskill and re-skill employees in businesses large and small.

In addition to the growing suite of green courses, the platform also provides access to vital work-focused training such as cyber security and digital skills.

EM3 Skills Strategy Manager, Jamie Mackay said: “The ISVC provides a great way for ambitious employers, particularly those who want to move towards achieving Net Zero, to develop their employees with green and other skills, while futureproofing their workforce.”

From 1 April 2024, the responsibility for LEP functions across the Enterprise M3 LEP region has transferred to Hampshire County Council and Surrey County Council.

The Enterprise M3 Board met for the last time in March 2024 and Enterprise M3 LEP is no longer operating as an organisation.

For any enquiries relating to economic development across the counties of Hampshire and Surrey, please visit the Hampshire County Council website and Business Surrey respectively.
