Let's meet our people

Cllr Rob Humby

Rob Humby

Deputy Leader of Hampshire County Council and Executive Member for Economy, Transport and Environment

A Hampshire man through and through, Rob’s career began as an engineering apprentice which instilled a life-long fascination for innovation and building things.  This led him to set-up his own small engineering firm and to this day he loves nothing better than to get his hands dirty and work on a car or other fabrication project.

Rob spent many years as a Winchester councillor, holding a variety of roles including Deputy Leader and Leader of the Council.   Since 2013, Rob has represented Bishop’s Waltham Division at Hampshire County Council and is Cabinet Member for Economy, Transport and Environment.  He became Deputy Leader of Hampshire County Council in May 2019.

Rob draws on decades of experience in business to champion the needs of Hampshire’s economy and push for the adoption of new technologies and innovative solutions to local transport and environmental problems.   He believes strongly in the mantra that local government must ‘join up the dots’ when approaching a new challenge and ensure that every avenue is pursued when a solution is being devised.
