Since March 2013, Jason has been Chief Executive at Surrey Community Action, a charity that works to represent the interests of the 7,000+ voluntary sector organisations across Surrey, with access to an equivalent number in Hampshire and beyond. Surrey Community Action works with charities, local authorities, businesses and other stakeholders to promote mutual understanding and effective joint working. As part of this, Jason has experience of local authority commissioning, corporate social responsibility and issues important to the communities of Surrey. Surrey Community Action also works for the benefit of rural communities and so Jason is involved in the Surrey Countryside and Rural Enterprise Forum, Surrey Nature Partnership and Surrey LEADER.
Jason’s career started at Procter and Gamble, working in IT for 10 years before choosing to move into the voluntary sector. Jason recognises that charities and not-for-profit organisations contribute massively to the economic and social value of Surrey, and that they, like any businesses, need to be run professionally by skilled and experienced people. He is keen to see the role of the not-for-profit sector continuing to be recognised within Enterprise M3.
This is Jason’s second time living and working in Surrey, and is very happy to be here with his young family.
