Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke and Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport is to give the keynote speech at an Exporting for Growth breakfast seminar on 22 November at the Basingstoke Country Hotel.
This event, which is free to businesses in Basingstoke and its surrounding areas, is aimed at helping small and medium-sized businesses get the practical information they need to start exporting their goods or win business from overseas markets.
As well as Maria Miller’s keynote address, there will be presentations from UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) and Hampshire Chamber of Commerce on the advice and support that they can give to organisations who want to start exporting. There will also be a local business case study, of a business who is already successfully trading in overseas markets, to give a first-hand account of their experiences.

Building new partnerships in the Enterprise M3 area
This event is being organised by the Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership, the Federation of Small Businesses, Hampshire Chamber of Commerce and UK Trade and Investment.
This is the first of a series of joint events which have come about as a result of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that has been signed between the Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership and UK Trade and Investment.
The MOU is a formal agreement between Enterprise M3 and UKTI which sets out how the two organisations will work together and what the priority work programmes and activity areas will be in support of business.
Geoff French, Chair of Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “We hope that the implementation of this MOU between our two organisations will be the start of a productive relationship that benefits businesses in the Enterprise M3 area. Our Strategy for Growth has identified exporting as an important part of both sustained economic growth and economic recovery for our area and therefore we want to work closely with UKTI to ensure that businesses in the Enterprise M3 area get the support and help they need to make their exporting ambitions a reality.”
Lewis Scott, Regional Director at UK Trade & Investment South East England, said: “UK Trade & Investment are responsible for helping business maximise their potential in overseas markets. We are therefore delighted to have signed this MOU as a signal of our commitment to supporting Enterprise M3 and the businesses we each serve.”
