Enterprise M3 board member James Cretney has won the prestigious ‘Millennium Egg’ - a lifetime achievement award for commitment to local business - in the Winchester Business Excellence Awards.
James is Chief Executive of Marwell Wildlife, which runs Marwell Zoo. Under his leadership the organisation’s profits and turnover have trebled and the zoo continues to be one of the most popular attractions in Hampshire.
He is also chair of Enterprise M3’s Programme Management Group, part of the Chamber of Commerce’s Winchester Business Strategy Group and a Director at Winchester Churches Nightshelter.
The egg, crafted by Jeremy France Jewellers in 2000 and donated to Winchester City Council, is presented to local people or organisations that have made a significant and sustained contribution to the economy of the Winchester district.
Members of the public can view the egg where it is displayed throughout the year, with a collection of civic silver, outside the Bapsy Hall at Guildhall Winchester.
On the night, the award was presented by Winchester City Chief Executive, Laura Taylor, during the ceremony at the University of Winchester on June 6.
