Western Basingstoke HE Future Capacity Study.
Commission on behalf of the Manydown & Western Basingstoke Employment & Skills Group which is comprised of:
Basingstoke is growing and is growing fast. There are major housing developments underway and further significant developments. This investment in infrastructure brings a need to invest in people – people who will live, learn and work in Basingstoke.
The standards of education in Basingstoke are mixed. Most primary schools do well against national standards and in inspection. Secondary school performance is mixed and improvement plans are in place with the aim of addressing this. The two post-16 institutions (Basingstoke College of Technology and Queen Mary’s Sixth Form College) have an established record of providing a good standard and range of provision, that cater for a significant section of this market.
Directly delivered higher education in the town is limited. Basingstoke College of Technology delivers a small range of part-time technical programmes to a small cohort of students.
The Manydown & Western Basingstoke Employment & Skills Group wish to commission a study to explore solutions to the development and delivery of Higher Level skills in Basingstoke to support the future growth and prosperity of the town.
