Surrey Chambers of Commerce put on a sell-out event for International Women’s Day, to discuss how #BalanceForBetter is affecting Generation Z.
More than 80 guests attended the lunch-time, panel discussion, hosted by Eagle Radio’s Beverley Hunter at Guildford’s Harbour Hotel.
Panel members included Dr. Subo Emanuel, GP Partner of Wonersh Surgery, Guildford; Iain Glover, Regional Head of Business Development for NatWest; Liana Fricker, Founder and Managing Director of The Inspiration Space, which co-hosted the event; Brett Riley, CEO & Founder at ITARMI UK Ltd; Sara Keel, Director of Babycup Ltd.
Some of the issues considered included:
- Have we created a better vision or have we negatively impacted expectations for the future generation?
- Are we putting too much pressure on ourselves as well as Generation Z and beyond?
- Are we equipping young people with the resilience needed to grow up in this highly demanding world?
- Are we encouraging them to push boundaries or push the limits of their own wellbeing?
A Surrey Chambers spokesman said: “We heard from a wonderfully passionate panel, all of whom were dedicated to discussing #BalanceForBetter in the society that we've created for Generation Z and beyond. What's important to remember, especially with regards to plans still uncertain, is that if we work together, we move forward together. It's not solely about men or women, it's about equality, fairness and kindness.
“Businesses need to support each other, perhaps now more than ever, and here at Surrey Chambers, we actively encourage this and create these opportunities for you to grow and strengthen your network. Whatever you need, we're here as your on-going source of advice, support and representation.”
