Kebur Garden Materials is on track to meet greener and more sustainable targets thanks to help from the EM3 Growth Hub.

The family run one-stop landscaping business, based in Farnborough, Hampshire, contacted the Growth Hub to help it develop a five-year sustainability plan.

Jo Holtom, Business Partner, Marketing and Change, said: “As a small business with limited resources and little specialist knowledge of green technology and funding, we were finding it challenging to know where to focus our efforts on sustainability.”

The firm’s initial contact with the Growth Hub was with Growth Champion Paul Scott. He quickly identified the business would benefit from support around sustainable growth and put them in touch with our EM3 Growth Hub Associate, Chris Fry, who specialises in working with businesses looking to become more sustainable and carbon neutral.

Jo said: “Coaching from Chris gave us a space to discuss options and helped us to cut through the plethora of online information and resources, so we could focus on sustainability improvements that would achieve maximum benefit for our business.”

“Chris has been a valuable sounding board and given us confidence to shape our sustainability plans, highlighting some opportunities we hadn’t considered.”

“He and his team have provided more specific support where needed, for example helping us to kick off projects to review our suppliers and map the carbon impact of our products. With their input we’ve also been able to choose a carbon footprint tool for tracking and targeting our emissions as a business and prioritise opportunities for vehicle fleet and energy efficiencies.”

“We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Growth Hub to any business wanting to make their operations more sustainable.”

EM3 Growth Champion Paul Scott said: “Kebur Garden Materials is a great example of where the Growth Hub has been able to make a difference, by providing expert advice helping this business forge its way towards a greener and more sustainable future.”

“We’re proud of being able to support businesses like this in the EM3 area, where we can assist all kinds of SMEs with fully funded impartial one-to-one support.”
