Government Director visits Whitehill and Bordon sustainable new town

The Government’s Director of Housing Supply visited Whitehill and Bordon, to see first-hand the work on this prosperous and sustainable new town. 
Isobel Stephen, who works for the Department for Communities and Local Government, listened to presentations and had a guided tour of the town, described by Enterprise M3’s Assistant Director for Business Delivery, Rob Dunford, as “an inspirational place-making programme through very strong partnership”.
The area’s redevelopment has so far seen the opening of an Enterprise Zone, the Base Business and Enterprise Centre, and the Future Skills Centre which offers a comprehensive range of courses for young people, primarily in construction trades.
A new relief road and hundreds of new homes are being constructed, with plans for a new town centre including a cinema, arts and heritage centre, offices, shops and restaurants, already approved by planners.
