Village Hotel Basingstoke has officially opened its doors on Enterprise M3’s Basing View Enterprise Zone following a £25 million development programme.

Marking the occasion, Cllr Diane Taylor, the Mayor of Basingstoke and Dean, her consort, Dr. Andy Taylor and Enterprise M3 Director Linda Cheung joined General Manager Nalin Daud to celebrate the exciting new era for the Basing View business district.

The hotel opened on February 10 and to highlight the link with enterprise, a Village Business Launch Networking Event took place on Wednesday which included business networking, a panel debate featuring EM3 chief executive Kathy Slack and lunch.

It’s great to be welcoming Village Hotels to the area. Basing View is one of the best-connected business destinations in the South East. This latest addition makes it an even more viable and desirable.  This provides a major investment for the Enterprise Zone at Basing View.

The EM3 LEP supported the development by investing £1.65 million local growth funding at the beginning of the scheme for enabling works which facilitated the further investment of £20 million in relation to the hotel build, as well as related car parking and landscaping at the site.

The brand-new 153-bedroom hotel is set to become a genuine community hub.  More than just a hotel, Village provides a place to dine out, stay, work out and play, all under one roof. The unrivalled range of facilities at Village Hotel Basingstoke include delicious all-day dining at the Village Pub & Grill, modern co-working facilities in VWorks and a state-of-the-art Village Gym, boasting a swimming pool, sauna and steam room, the very latest equipment from Technogym and over 100 group classes a week.

Basing View is one of three sites on the LEP's EZ³ multi-site enterprise zone and the Village Hotels investment has brought with it 130 construction jobs, a further 200 jobs in the construction supply chain and employed 110 people from the local area across a wide variety of roles including personal trainers, gym instructors, chefs and bar staff.  A total of 36 apprenticeship weeks and more than 126 work experience hours have already been completed during the construction period

We’re thrilled to open the doors of Village Hotel Basingstoke. Unlike many hotels, Village Hotel Club offers a focal point for people to meet up, socialise, work and get fit together. We’re passionate about embedding ourselves in the local community and fulfilling the needs of Basingstoke’s local residents. Our community initiative, 'Village Green' is about giving back. Across the group, we have committed more than 30,000 hours per year across the group to volunteering in the local community, whether that be collecting and donating goods to local shelters or donating our time to help with community projects.

Paul Roberts , Chief Executive Officer at Village Hotel Club

Nalin Daud, who has worked with Village Hotel Club for over 14 years, has joined Village Hotel Basingstoke as General Manager. He is joined by new Director of Sales, Danielle Enderson, who brings a decade of experience within the group, and Village Gym Manager Lucy Hicks. Arif Sadath, who has worked at several hotels in the area as well as a number of five-star venues in London, has joined as Head Chef.

I’m very proud to have built a fantastic team who are as passionate as me about delivering fantastic customer service. The team and I have been looking forward to the opening for some time – we’re in a fantastic location and really do have something for everyone.  We’re gearing up for a very busy 2020, and to building further local connections through our Village Green community initiative.
