Since opening its doors, the Surrey Heartlands Health Tech Accelerator (HTA) has become a key player in supporting the area’s health and care sector through targeted engagement – as it continues to achieve its aim of improving outcomes for residents needing to access services.

Funded by Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership, the HTA has offered support in four programmes of work and subsequent bids; Bid for Better with Royal Surrey County Hospital, the Surrey Wide Hydration Bid, Learning Disabilities and Autism and the Mental Health + Risk Stratification.

As the vehicle for innovation across the local system within the Surrey Heartlands Innovation Strategy, all projects that come through the HTA are reviewed through the lens of its core partners priorities - in particular the health and care priorities and cross cutting themes decided by Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care System - and the seven key research themes of the University of Surrey.

Meeting with multi-professional clinicians and academia along with key stakeholders, the HTA has participated in a number of forums, meetings and workshops, as well as hosting focus sessions with trusted companies to create key messaging to communicate its offer.

Dr Claire Fuller, SRO Surrey Heartlands ICS on the HTA, said: “I now understand what the HTA is all about, and every exec director needs innovation as the priority utilising the accelerator as the vehicle.”
