The proposal consists of a package of sustainable measures to improve walking, cycling and accessibility in Winchester City:
• Accessibility improvements to Westgate and Western schools and in surrounding areas. This includes improvement to existing pedestrian routes and crossing facilities to both schools, to allow safe access by parents and children. The scheme also incorporates traffic calming on Cheriton Road to keep traffic speeds low and to allow parents and children to cross the road safely.
• Improvements to the existing pedestrian crossing on St Pauls Hill which will improve access to the railway station
• Provision of an uncontrolled crossing on Romsey Road near the junction with Upper High Street.
