Whitehill & Bordon Future Skills Centre

Skills Centre providing construction skills to support the Whitehill & Bordon area

Project Description

The Whitehill & Bordon Future Skills Centre is part of an integrated package of investment into the regeneration of Whitehill & Bordon. The skills centre will play a critical role in the redevelopment of the town, as the initial focus of the centre will be on the construction sector. The facility will support local people to access employment opportunities created during the construction phase of the redevelopment of the town and beyond. It will also maximise the job opportunities created for local people in Whitehill & Bordon as a result of the regeneration and help create a sustainable community. The Future Skills Centre will reinforce confidence in Whitehill & Bordon as a place for skills and business and act as a catalyst to attract further investment in the area. The concept of the project was developed with reference to CITB’s feasibility study on a construction skills centre, as well as consultation with local education providers. Hampshire County Council have appointed Basingstoke College of Technology to provide subject areas that will be available, including bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, painting and decorating etc., as well as , specialist construction such as interior ceiling and partition systems. The curriculum offer will meet industry standards and provide a programme responsive to employer needs.
