Part of the Basingstoke South West Corridor to Growth package of projects. Taken together these will provide enabling transport infrastructure to facilitate the delivery of planned housing within Basingstoke - in particular the site allocations to the west and south west (including Manydown (3,400 dwellings), Kennels Farm (350 dwellings), Basingstoke Golf course (1,000 dwellings) and Hounsome Fields (750 dwellings)), amounting to approximately 5,500 new dwellings within the current Local Plan period to 2029.
The package will support job creation within Basingstoke town centre, primarily at the Basing View strategic employment site, currently undergoing long-term regeneration and enable further development of the major retail zone in the town centre through improving strategic transport access to these areas. It is anticipated that once fully developed Basing View could create in the region of 4,000 additional jobs in Basingstoke, potentially creating additional GVA of £232,687,040 per annum.
Additionally the scheme is forecast to create 145 temporary construction jobs.
The gross contribution to the economy of the package is estimated to be an additional £15m of GVA (Direct and Indirect).
