The package consists of a comprehensive group of schemes to improve accessibility and provide a vibrant town centre. The project will offer a more efficient, safe and pleasant environment for all users of Woking Railway Station by providing an excellent transport interchange between all modes. It will also provide improved cycling and walking facilities in the Town Centre and to facilitate the use of active transport and to ease congestion on the roads allowing for a more pleasant urban realm and increased business location in the town. The scheme is being delivered in 5 phases: Phase 1 (Goldsworth Road) As part of the Woking Fire Station development, adaptations to Goldsworth Road including a new box junction and reconfiguration of the junction with Victoria Way were completed in summer 2016. Phase 2 (High Street and Broadway) Various changes to the operation of the road network in this area including the creation of a new link road connecting High Street with Victoria Way. The works also include the relocation of the taxi rank, improved bus facilities, wider pavements and dedicated cycle lane, to improve pedestrian and cycle connectivity. Phase 3 (Victoria Way) Victoria Way will be adapted to incorporate a bus lane and a new bus stop will be built by The Lightbox Museum and Gallery. Phase 4 (Church Street West junction) Improvement work to the junction of Victoria Way and Church Street West. Phase 5 (Victoria Way) The final phase of highway improvements will connect the previous four phases and facilitate any future replacement of Victoria Arch by Network Rail
